SESSION

'Goog practices in long-term care facilities'

Last year, for the first time in the history of the International Long-Term Care Conference, a session on good practices in long-term care facilities was held. Since the speeches of our guests hold a great interest to the participants, we decided to organize a similar session this year, as well.

We invite you to submit your facilities and institutions to participate in that session. Proposals for presentations may be made by all the institutions that stand out against others by leading innovative and unconventional efforts towards improving both quality of life of persons residing in the facility and the working conditions of their staff.

We are intent on making everybody know about good examples of governance, organizational and financial solutions, so that they could learn from best practices. Maybe it is you who try to activate persons under your charge using some innovative methods, who motivate them to work, rehabilitation or you have implemented some custom solutions in your institution. If so, the conference in September is an ideal opportunity for you to talk about your achievements in the forum of those involved in the development of long-term care.

On the occasion of the European Year of Volunteering 2011, in particular, we encourage you to present good practices involving cooperation with volunteers.

We encourage everybody who has implemented good practices in his/her institution and who is willing to share his/her knowledge and experience with others to submit proposals for presentations at the Conference Office address. In your application, please provide the data of your institution, describe good practices and the effects which they bring to your residents and staff.

The choice of institutions to be presented during the Torun Long-Term Care Days will be made by the Conference Scientific Committee.

Torun Long-Term Care Days will be held on 20-22 September 2011 in Torun. You are welcome to participate.

The application should include:

1. Description of good practices in the facility and the effects they bring to patients or staff (approximately 2-3 pages in Word, font 12, line spacing 1.5)
2. Lecturer's data and a short description of his professional experience
3. Contact details

Thematic areas:

Other institutions will have the opportunity to present their practices in the form of posters exhibited in the Foyer of the Nicolas Copernicus University Auditorium, where the Conference is held, or in the pages of the quarterly MEDI Long-Term Care Forum.
