EUROPEAN LONG-TERM CARE EDUCATION CENTRE
In 2008 TZMO SA established European Long-Term Care Education Centre Post-Secondary School for Medical Carers in Toruń. It is a response to the more and more significant shortage of number of nurses in our country and the increasing demand for care services staff.
We secure the best lecturers with big experience both in working with dependent people and in teaching.
Because of the great interest in our school we have decided to start teaching also in another city – Bydgoszcz. The first students in Bydgoszcz started their education in September 2010.
After graduating from the Post-Secondary School for Medical Carers our graduates start working in:
· hospitals
· health care centres
· nursing homes
· social care centres
· at patient’s home, offering individual care
· foundations and associations helping ill and disabled people
There are also many students who already work in such institutions but they want to improve their qualifications. Every student has the possibility to learn foreign languages in our School so they can work not only in Poland but also in other countries which need professional careers.

We know how important it is to educate future carers because more and more people will need professional help. Thanks to a significant development of medicine we are able to live much longer. However, old age involves, however, a different type of dysfunctions, worsening of physical ability, poorer agility and some diseases resulting from advanced age. All these factors influence the necessity of obtaining by people advanced in years a professional care, even in some every day activities. The increasing amount of the elderly results in even larger demand for care services staff. At present, in Poland there are not enough professional care staff, which creates a remarkable demand for carers, including medical carers.
